I'm so proud of myself for finishing this awsome journey. It took me a lot longer then 18 hours, but I enjoyed every bit of it. Being an amateur with technology I did get a little frustrated.
I was glad I had all summer to complete 23 Things
So on to the questions.
1. What was my favorite discovery? I really enjoyed Del.ici.ous, Teacher Tube, and everything Google.
2How has this program assisted me? It has affected me in so may ways. Just being able to know what a wiki is is important to me. This will help me at school a whole lot. Of course I can't wait to go back and search more with THINGs.
3.Any surprises? Everything.... I had know idea what the internet had to offer.
4.What could ya'll do differently? I thing the coaches did everthing that I needed to be sucessful.
Maybe a help desk..... but without it I was able to figure it out by myself. YEAH!!!
5.Would you participate in another dicovery? YES
6. I know this will be a huge addition to my Toolbox for teaching.
Thanks again for all your help!!!!!!

Thing # 22 Nings
Well this shows that social networking can be beneficial. There is so much bad press about My Space and Facebook. I've never had a social networking page. But this would be nice for teachers to share ideas. Personally it would be a great way to keep up with the lives of out of town friends and family. Another new word for my 23 Things vocabulary list....NINGS.
Thing #21 Podcasts & Audio Books
This was the most challenging yet. I tried and tried on my home computer , but I couldn't get Audacity or Photostory to download. Then I looked at other players Blogs and noticed that someone commented that it was on our school laptops, so I logged on there and was able to do the small Audacity. This is a Thing that I will revisit later. I think it would be very neat to use with your students. I almost gave up!!!
Thing # 20 continued
I'm very familiar with You Tube. I view it all the time. This summer I was watching an Oprah
repeat and and the founders of You Tube were spotlighted. It's amazing what's on it. I thinki in the classroom you need to be very careful what your students are viewing. This was the first I search Teacher Tube. There is all kind of stuff about ESL Strategies.

Thing # 19 2.0 Awards
Wow! Coaches it looks like all the sites you've let us explore are all award winners. Ya'll are the best and greatly appreciated. I was happy to see Craigslist as a winner. I'm very familar with
that site. I have it as one of my favorites. There is so much you can do with your students.
A family tree to share would be very neat for elementary. Takes the place of the old time "All About Me "project

Thing # 18 Open Office & Google Docs
Both of these sites were very interesting, but I still feel more confident with Microsoft Office.
Of course it's nice the other two are free and you can access them from any computer. If I had to make a choice I would choose Google Docs because to me it seemed more user friendly.
By the way I revisted Thing #17. Wow the video of the the SBISD teacher was very informative.
Thanks for your help.

Thing #17
I created my own search engine on rollyo. I named it bububrown. I was unable to get it to get into my blog. Will try again later

Thing # 16 Wikis
Well, once again I'm sorry for my bad attitude in Thing 15. I calmed down after an adult beverage and decided to continue and I'm glad I did. I've always used Wikipedia in all my Google searches. It is always fast and accurate. Question: You can't edit that info can you?
I think the Wikis could be very beneficial. I'm a ESOL Consulting Teacher at one of our elementary schools. Last year we began the One-Way Dual Language Program in SBISD. I could see using a Wiki for our Bilingual teachers to share what works and doesn't work in their own classroom. The information would be shared much easier than E-Mails. Our teachers had and continue to have many questions about implementing the program.
I posted in our Sandbox. I just would be scared someone would be able to edit my post. Is that
why it seems to be annyomous posts. Thanks!!!! Attitude is Everything!!!

Thing #15 2.0 Library
I think our libraries need to take advantage of the technology available, but after watching the video I need to vent. Personally I think the teens and young adults spend too much time on myspace, face book, text messaging ect. Where are there social interaction skills going? I was in Austin this past weekend.... we went to a happy hour off 6th street, almost every table was occupied with young adults with their laptops in front of them taking advantage of the wi-fi.
We were one the few tables that were engaged in face to face conversation. What has happened to eye contact and laughter? Sorry I guess I'm showing my age. I would hate to have actual children books go away. What happy memories I have of reading to my now grown son every night with a real book......not a laptop. Calling friends and family on the land line and hearing there friendly and loving voices!!!
Sorry I guess 3 Things in one day was a little overwelming. On to Thing 16.

Thing # 14 Technorati
You were right very slow getting on, but once I did I understand that through blogging information you not only get the experts facts but every day people's opinions. As a result of this you have to be careful that you realize that just becuase a blog is hit a lot does not mean the info is correct.
In reality it's shocking to see how much is out there in cyberspace. I realize that the inter net is a daily learning tool. With Blogs everyday people can be heard. Technorati is a little too advanced for elementary. It didn't seem like there is any censorship. That's a liitle scary for elementary students.
I did not register my blog because I do not think My Blog is quiet up to standard.......but you never know what my future holds.
2/3 's the way to go!!!!!! Yeah!

Thing 13 Tagging and Del.icio.os
I set up my del.icios.os account. I was once again amazed at all the info. I will definitely spend more time on this Thing later on. I feel that when you get this all set up in will save a lot of time. However, I see I have a lot more to learn, but all in all it is a great tool for teachers!! ORGANIZATION!!!

Library Thing #11
Thing # 11
Library Thing was very interesting. This summer I've been reading Danielle Steele's and Carol Higgins Clark. I will use this sight again in the very near future. It was very easy to register.

Thing 10
Thing # 9 Related Blogs & News Feeds
The Cool Cat Teacher has incredible stuff. I could tell she has been blogging a lot longer than me.
When I went Blogline and search Spring Branch I was amazed at all the blogs.
Google search was the easiest for me. I was surprised when I went to Topix. Net My husband's home town of Clawson Michigan was there. Wow awards for blogging who would of ever thought it!!! I will definitley go back and play some more with Thing #9

Thing # 8 RSS Feeder & Reader
I had never heard of RSS before. Very interesting. I liked the comparison between Netficks and a Video store for convenience. On our Yahoo home page we have customized it to have display our favorite news ( current headlines, market new, and sports.) Also my Husband is restoring a 1966 Corvette convertible, so he has E-Bay automatically E-Mail him any new items listed on E-Bay for the Vette
Since I'm not a librarian I not sure how I could use this for school., but I really enjoyed looking at it. On to Thing # 9!!!!!

Thing # 7
I never realized Google had so much to offer. I have Google Earth on my Favorites at home, we use it all the time. I thought the calendar will be very useful. You were right, many people think of Google as only a search engine. I've been trying to move my avatar to the top of my blog with no success. This is turning out to be really great. Thanks to all that have made this possible!!

Thing #6
I loved the trading cards. I can imagine all kind of fun things you could do with it. The puzzles were cute too.
Thing # 5
I was able to put a picture on my Blog. I chose a picture of Reliant because we have season tickets to the Texans and always have a blast at the games.
